Susan Winer

Susan is a co-founder of Strategic Philanthropy, Ltd., and is Chief Operating Officer for the firm. She brings a unique skillset resulting from her almost 25 years of work with established non-profits and family-owned businesses. Prior to launching Strategic Philanthropy Ltd., Susan was president of Stratenomics, Inc., which she founded in 1985 to help closely held and family owned businesses find solutions to market and operating challenges and ensure stable and manageable growth. This deep experience has served the firm well not only in terms of strategic planning for client engagements but on the operational side of the firm as well.

Earlier in her career Susan was Vice President of the Chicago Board of Trade, the first woman in a senior position at the Exchange, and before that she served as Assistant Midwest Bureau Chief for McGraw-Hill Publications where she oversaw 44 magazines in an eight state region.

Susan has authored, or co-authored, numerous articles for publications such as Family Wealth Report, where she is also on the editorial board and serves as a judge for the Family Wealth Report awards. She has also written extensively for  PAM (Private Asset Management), Alliance, STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and Desert Charities. She served on the faculty of the Institute for Preparing Heirs and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ultra High Net Worth Institute (UHNWInstitute.org) as well as Chair of the Institute’s Social Impact and Philanthropy Domain.

Susan has a B.A. from Wayne State University, attended graduate school at the University of Michigan and successfully completed the Mediation Program at the Center for Mediation Law in California.
