Position Overview 

The Philanthropic Associate works closely with lead advisors and other members of the client services team to support client engagements. The position requires strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research and developing landscape and opportunity analyses to surface potential strategies and organizations clients may support

  • Reviewing and developing write-ups on proposals and grant reports

  • Preparing for client meetings

  • Contributing to firm-wide knowledge management through research, writing, and developing presentations

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Sit in on client meetings to share information, take notes, and write meeting summaries

  • Conduct issue area research and prepare reports to help clients understand the landscape, determine their giving strategies and identify organizations

  • Review client grantmaking histories and prepare reports to help clients better understand their strategies and impact

  • Participate in planning and strategy meetings for client engagements and for the firm

  • Assist in grant cycle activities, including developing requests for proposals and guidelines for clients giving activities, reviewing grant proposals, analyzing financials, participating in site visits, summarizing proposal highlights, and making recommendations

  • Assist in survey design and analysis of survey data, both quantitatively and qualitatively

  • Assist with the preparation of reports, correspondence, presentations, and proposals by formatting, proofreading, and copy-editing

  • Assist with logistics coordination for client meetings and participate in preparing for and conducting grantee convenings

  • Research and write articles or issue papers for publication or for the Firm’s website, and for use in any marketing, outreach, or educational activities conducted by the Firm

  • Develop and maintain accurate and accessible files and documentation

  • Respect the sensitivity and confidential nature of all work and client relationships

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred)

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in the foundation or non-profit world in a project management, grants management, or program development position

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the field of philanthropy and grantmaking  

  • Experience with information management and report writing

  • Able to work in person at least two days per week 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to problem-solve, be creative, and self-sufficient, work independently and as part of a team, and enjoy a learning environment

 

Compensation

  • Starting salary is $65,000-$75,000, predicated on experience 

  • Health insurance, disability, term life, catastrophic insurance, and a 401K plan for qualified employees

  • Generous PTO including a winter holiday break
